CEO-7 versus 00-28. I am trying to compare these two models. The major differences are in the wood, Sitka top with Indian Rosewood back and sides for the ‘28’ and Adirondack top with mahogany back and sides for the ‘7’. Nut and scale length are the same but one major difference is the neck profile, modified low oval on the ‘28’ and The 000-18 exists somewhere between the OM-28 and the D-18 in tonal qualities. It is a better all-arounder (for me). One thing I find important in guitars is their ability to still sound good with a capo in the 5-9 fret range. My first 00-18V was exceptional at this, and the OM-28 and 000-18 also maintain a very good voice. I just purchased two new standard Martins. An OM-28 and a 000-18. The OM-28 is the most versatile guitar I have ever owned. I traded in my HD-28 and I can honestly say the OM-28 has all the bass I need. I can strum pretty heavy and it sounds great. It is not the cannon that I had with the HD-28, but it can sound big. I play a variety of styles. Lol! The 000-28 is a wonderful guitar and the shorter scale neck is probably a bit easier to play than the slightly longer one on it's OM sister and its tone is a little warmer.
